Trumps Theory in Preventing School Shootings

In the aftermath of the Parkland High School Shooting, president Trump has a theory that highly adept people should be armed with firearms to prevent school shootings. But yet Scot Peterson, the armed officer that was on duty at Douglas High School when Nikolas Cruz opened fire, never went inside to confront the gunman as the shooting took place. He was spotted on surveillance cameras stationed at the west side of the building, but he never went in. When details emerged about this he resigned. This proves that Trumps theory that arming teachers with guns will not prevent school shootings. It doesn't matter how prepared someone is to use the gun, there's no way to tell how they will truly respond when thrown in a situation involving an active shooter. Teachers being armed with guns in the classroom will not stop an active shooter, if a paid armed security guard wouldn't face a shooter in the school, teachers will not either. We cant expect someone to be willing to sacrifice their life for someone else's life. Trump needs to come up with a better solution to stop school shootings. Bringing more guns into schools can just make things worse.

  1. So troubling! I'm glad you wrote about this, Ashley. I never want to go too far in my worries about DJT, so having something to focus on that is clearly LE-related? I'm in. Yes, the idea to arm teachers is shortsighted and ... wow. I appreciate your reasoning, especially where you write: " if a paid armed security guard wouldn't face a shooter in the school, teachers will not either." Exactly. And there's so much more to say ... !
